We have an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking, problem-solving Senior Network Planner based in Wiltshire.
Working within the Pre-Construction team, you will be one of the key players in the development and growth of the fibre network through the planning and design of various FTTP projects, ranging from small remote villages to large market towns.
You’ll work closely with the build, engineering, and delivery teams to deliver full-fibre project designs using point-to-point and XGSPON technology and provide all the necessary pre-construction information for handover. You will also be responsible for accepting As-built information post-construction and accurately maintaining current network maps.
The primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversight of a delivery region whilst ensuring all network and design principles.
- Manage a team of Network Planners, offering guidance on all planning and design elements
- Liaise with the Network Architect to ensure cabinets and core network meet network requirements.
- Financial control to meet required profitability/performance expectations.
- Input in planning and construction pipelines.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highlight, report and mitigate any risks to the Project Delivery Manager.
- Manage, plan, and design P2P and XGS PON networks using various techniques (BT/OR PIA, mole plough, directional drilling, hard dig trench).
- Produce detailed Low-Level Designs and Bill OF Materials for internal and external build teams.
- Produce cabinet area network plans.
- Conduct detailed, non-intrusive (Overhead) surveys of existing infrastructure.
- Deliver planning support to set targets, including premises passed, contractual milestones and CPPP.
- Produce and maintain accurate splicing matrixes.
- Deliver accurate build plans through the use of QGIS, Vetro and Vitruvi.
- Respond to design change requests from the field during build.
- Produce project reports at various planning stages.
The Ideal candidate must possess the following skills and experience:
- A university degree or equivalent in surveying, geography, geology, or something similar.
- Detailed knowledge of XGSPON and point-to-point fibre network architecture.
- Experience in using CAD or GIS software.
- Experience in Telecoms FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) Planning and Design.
- Ability to prioritise across multiple build projects at different planning and construction stages.
- Effective Leadership and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others effectively.
- Full UK driving (no more than 6 points)
