It’s been a looming giant for a few years, full of controversy and signifying a change in the mobile telecoms world.
The race for 5G dominance is truly global, with Huawei going for contracts around the world, but it’s not just Huawei making strides.
This week Ericsson won the National contract for Malaysia, a 2.5 billion dollar deal showing that the old giants of telecoms are coming out swinging, and with new towers, fibre networks and incredible demand… the 5G war has just begun.
Here in the UK Nokia holds the contract to supply BT with 5G, alongside its commitments from its base in Finland, to Oman and as far as Japan.
And with EE, Vodafone, Three and 02 racing to prove dominance over the UK market. There’s only one certain winner from 5G.. the job market, with everything from civils to an increase in customer service and engineering roles, it’s really going to be a 5G boom over the next 5 years.
With 5G upgrading 4Gs connectivity from 2000 devices per .38 square miles to almost a million devices in the same area, you can understand why so much investment is being pumped in. The 5th generation is truly here, and it’s time to hop on the train before it leaves the station.

With the range and efficiency of 5G truly outpacing 4G like a car driving past a snail, the future certainly looks bright for all industries. With 5G enabling seamless remote working, meaning that even construction crews will be able to operate machinery from miles away, meaning that soon, it won’t be a matter of Geography, but purely your talent that decides whether you’re suitable for the task at hand.
